** Highlights **

Experience Tokyo modern living in one of the world's busiest, and most populated cities. This is a newly built house in the unique "pencil" style - tall and thin houses on small parcels of land which are architectural masterpieces of space management and funky design.

This amazing house is 5 mins walk to Takeshita street, Harajuku station and only moments away from Meiji Shrine, Shibuya and Yoyogi Park.

This new, modern build contains 2 bedrooms, spacious kitchen, large combined living and dining room and accommodates up to eight guests with options for two more. Or share between two or three couples for a relaxed retreat in Tokyo. We welcome groups and families with children and can provide toys for little ones to keep them entertained at home. This house is big enough for extended families and fast fibre WiFI internet for business travelers and heaving gaming teens. Plus a portable WiFi for sightseeing.

Houses in Tokyo are usually only enjoyed by the wealthy and are extremely rare this close to Shinjuku, Shibuya and Omote Sando. See for yourself how Japanese architects can make the smallest patch of land into a comfortable living environment.

** Bedding **

3 x Full sized double bed comfortably fits two adults

Loft single bed that will suit children or adults comfortably.

Double sofa bed comfortably fits two adults

** Services & Amenities **

You will have full private use of the house and this is professionally cleaned between guests. There are always plenty of clean linens and towels. If you would like a cleaning and linen service mid-stay, let us know and we can arrange this for a fee.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, dryer, two washlet toilets and everything you need for a relaxing stay. The kitchen is equipped with a IH burner, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, rice cooker, fridge, kettle, pans, cooking utensils, plus crockery and cutlery for 8 people. We include complimentary coffee and tea. Please note there is only one bathroom, two toilets and there are stairs to climb inside. All essentials like soap, shampoo & conditioner, toilet paper, towels and linens are included. All you need to bring is your clothes and personal items.

High-speed WiFi internet is inside the apartment plus a portable WiFi unit is also available for you to carry around town with maps and DVD player with a selection of DVDs are included. AppleTV is included so you can easily stream from your smart phone or laptop over WiFi through the TV. Or log into your own iTunes or Hulu or Netflix account and watch on-demand TV and movies.

There is some space for luggage in the closet however if you have large amounts of luggage or ski gear it might be best to ship these directly to your ski resort using a baggage service - cheap and reliable in Japan.

If traveling with children, we can also recommend a wonderful English speaking babysitter who can take care of your little ones in the house while you experience the bright lights of the big city or romantic dinner.

We love living in this area and our own home is a few minutes away. We will personally meet and greet you and show you through the house and how to use everything.

We have also included a selection of novels and travel brochures, walking maps and a Lonely Planet for you to use during your stay. We are happy to recommend out of the way places and local knowledge of our combined 20 years living in Tokyo.

Let us know if you need anything and we will happily accommodate most requests.

** Neighbourhood **

It would be hard to get a better location for sightseeing. Enjoy a 10 minute stroll through lively Yoyogi Park to the quiet gardens of Meiji Shrine and Harajuku's funky shopping streets and beyond to Omotesando, the Champs-Élysées of Tokyo.

The house is in a quiet and safe street but only a few minutes walk from all the fun and funky shops and restaurants in Harajuku, Omote Sando and Shibuya.

This is also right in the heart of the fashion district with many fashion houses in the neighbourhood. Play "spot the foreign super model" with plenty of models rushing about from job to job.

The streets are fairly typical of suburban Tokyo and some urban hiking reveals interesting architecture as well as many green spaces.

On days when you want to stick close to home, the neighbourhood bustles with restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and other amenities. There is a grocery store nearby perfect for stocking breakfast and for snacks, we suggest any of the nearby convenience stores which are open 24 hours.

Younger guests may enjoy the free pony rides every day at the Tokyo Equestrian Center a short walk away through to the Sangubashi entrance to the Meiji Shrine gardens.

We've drawn up a neighborhood map to help you find what you need.

** Transport **

Harajuku station is around 5 minutes walk with the JR line and the Chiyoda subway line. Kita-Sando station (Fukutoshin Subway) is also only a 5 minutes walk.

From these stations you can easily access all other parts of Tokyo.

Shinjuku: 5 minutes

Shibuya: 2 minutes

Roppongi: 7 minutes

Ginza: 17 minutes

Akihabara: 17 minutes

Ueno: 24 minutes

Tsukiji: 26 minutes

Asakusa: 26 minutes

There are buses to Shinjuku, Shibuya and Omotesando within minutes of the front door.

** Getting Here **

After you have confirmed your booking, a PDF will be emailed to you with all of the best options for getting into Tokyo from either airport or from other cities around Japan.

From Narita airport, take the Narita Express train to Shinjuku and it is a ¥1,000 yen taxi ride from there if you have lots of luggage. If you travel light, hop on the Yamanote JR line for two stops to Harajuku for ¥150.

Alternatively, take the Airport Limousine Bus to Shinjuku station then take a taxi directly to the house.

** Other things to note **

When you make the booking, we will send you a welcome pack with lots of transport information and confirm a convenient meeting time and location to ensure you will be able to settle in quickly.

If this space is booked, we do have other listings nearby.

If you have any questions about our listings or Tokyo in general, please just ask.

Many of the larger train stations have lockers big enough for a full size suitcase. Shinjuku Station has plenty of large coin lockers.

Great place to stay in Tokyo

We stayed here on our first two nights in Tokyo, getting in on a rainy evening. Masa met us at the train station and walked us to the house and showed us how everything worked. The bedrooms worked well for our two older kids to have their own beds and get rest after our flight, and our bed was comfortable, too. We loved the neighborhood and walking around Harajuku and the proximity to Meiji-Jingo and the JR station. It was nice staying in a real neighborhood! It was perfect for the 4 of us.

Beautiful House near the park

This lovely house is for Tokyos circumstances/standards pretty big and comfortable. We were 6 people in this accommondation and stayed without any problems. There are lots of sleep possibilities as also a washing machine, A/C in every room, great kitchen with coffee machine and good size dining table; an excellent shower and bath. The property is very central to lots of areas like Shinjuku or Shibuya, which you can reach with the nearby train station or by walk ( 30 min). The beautiful Yoyogi Park and Meiji Shrine is only 10 min away by walk. The host is super nice. He met us at the train Station and while on the way to the property, he showed us restaurants and shops, recommended by him. He gave us a great tour of the house and offers us, to stay longer than the check out time, for which we are very thankful. We loved staying here and would recommend the host and the property to anyone :)

Best vacation stay ever!!!

"Nothing to improve upon!! You don't need to stay in a hotel. We like feeling like locals and we could stay at a hotel. This is just a better experience to us. Absolutely perfect location a 5-10 minute walk from Harajuku station on the JR Yamanote line which gets you all over Tokyo. The house was clean and the owner met us in person to go over anything we'd need to know to use the house to its fullest. Powerful air conditioning, Beds, Laundry, TV, Small kitchen with coffee maker and basics for cooking breakfast or light supper. It's all about the location at this house. We rented for 4 days on the way out of a longer trip to Japan and Tokyo. in our last 36 hours, we walked from the house to great Ramen, Sushi, delicious breakfast and coffee spots. We wandered and enjoyed Omotesando to view the modern architecture on display and enjoyed a morning at the Nezu Museum (total Gem) a 19 minute walk from the house. We took the train to see the Imperial Palace Gardens and wander around Marunouchi, eat a lovely lunch, settled into a beautiful coffee shop for dessert and train home to the house in Harajuku. This is all in about 36 hours and possible because of the great location. Everyone slept well and we were able to do work we had to do easily because of the fast Wifi. For anyone looking to travel in summer months, this house cools off nicely and is a wonderful respite from the warm weather. Thank you!"

Submarine House

This house is better than you will imagine, and have you feeling like a Harajuku local in no time. It is ideally located, is fully equiped with everything you need and all amenities are A+. You will love this house so do not hesitate. After over 30 trips to Tokyo, I will not stay anywhere else now. Hosts are really helpful, and there is nothing you won't love about it.

Love the Submarine house!

Our extended family of 6 had a wonderful stay at the Submarine House! When we first arrived, our host met us and patiently explained different aspects about the house and answered our questions. During our two-week stay, the host responded to several questions promptly with helpful advice. It was great to have individual air conditioning units on all three floors. Beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of pillows and towels. We appreciated the instant hot water and terrific water pressure in the shower. My 78-year-old mother loved her nightly soak in the deep tub. The surrounding area was very quiet, but there was a 7-Eleven nearby, a supermarket a bit further out, and subway stations within walking distance. My teen loved being so close to the cool scene in Harajuku, and we were also close to shopping in Shibuya and Shinjuku. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Submarine House!
